Training and Development Opportunities for foundation governors

Church School Governor Training

We run regular Induction and Refresher Training for new and re-appointed foundation governors.

Foundation Governors come from a variety of backgrounds and all bring their own set of talents to the role.  For some, this may be their first experience within an educational setting.

To help governors in their role as a critical friend, the training will equip governors to support schools and academies by providing background information about the roles and responsibilities of governors within a church school, finding out about each school's context and how this fits into the school's distinctly Christian Vision, and learning about examples of courageous questions that they can ask.

Please note that there is a charge for this training course; governors should speak with the clerk or headteacher before booking a place on this course.

Governor Briefings

We invite foundation governors to a Governor Briefing in each of the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms.  These are hosted by the DBE team, and we share key updates about changes to the educational landscape viewed through a Christian lens, in addition to the latest news about RE and SIAMS, and how church schools can support the whole school community.

Please note the briefings are free to attend.  We would be very pleased to welcome all governors in church schools to our briefings.
