Empowering Voices
Since 2015, the Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education has worked with Shooting Fish Theatre Company, cultural solutions UK and Taylormade Arts to support children and young people to engage with a range of religions and beliefs through the arts. The REConnecting Lincolnshire project (2015-2020) engaged with a range of issues relevant to the local region, including Islamophobia and Christian cultural identity. Year 6 and Year 7 pupils from across the region co-created a series of multi-media performances working alongside creative professionals to tell stories from Christian and Muslim worldviews. You can find out more about this here.
Since 2021, the team has worked on the Empowering Voices project. This piece of work produced eight podcast episodes, each of which explored a lived example of a religious or non-religious worldview. Year 6 and Year 7 pupils from across England worked alongside creative professionals to produce the podcast episodes, each of which included a short audio play, an 'in conversation' discussing the themes of the play and an immersive soundscape relating to the worldview in focus. Each episode also includes a bespoke education pack, aimed at upper KS2 and KS3 pupils.
