Governor Roles and Responsibilities for Church Schools

This event will take place between 9:30am and 12:30pm on 29/09/2020.

The Governors “Roles and Responsibilities” course is designed to equip governors with the tools and knowledge to be more effective in their role.


The course will be led by Senior Schools Effectiveness Adviser Sam Stewart.
To ensure that the governing body understand what they HAVE to do and SHOULD do to enable and support school leaders to continue school improvement. The courses will:
• Equip you to understand the “Statutory Function” of the Governing Body
• Enable you to develop your role of “challenge and support”
• Have an overview not only of what OfSTED would expect but also what the school should expect of its governing body


As a headteacher and lead OfSTED inspector, Sam Stewart has experienced Ofsted inspection from both a school and a lead inspector’s perspective. Sam has undertaken training for governors on a variety of topics as a Diocesan Schools Effectiveness Adviser
