Lincolnshire Locally Agreed Syllabus

Lincolnshire Locally Agreed Syllabus for RE (2018)

The new Lincolnshire locally agreed syllabus for RE comes into effect in September 2018. All local authority and voluntary controlled church schools are legally required to use this syllabus as the basis of their RE curriculum. Academies and voluntary aided church schools are invited to use this syllabus as the basis of their RE curriculum, but they are not required to do so. For more information about statutory duties in relation to RE in academies, please see here.

You can find the Lincolnshire locally agreed syllabus here.

You can find exemplar primary RE curriculum plans for this new syllabus here.  These curriculum plans are suitable for schools using the Understanding Christianity resource and schools not using this resource. If you would like the Diocesan RE Adviser to produce a bespoke curriculum plan that reflects the context of your school (e.g. mixed-age or cross-phase classes), please contact her at gillian.georgiou@lincoln.anglican.org.

You can also find more detailed overviews for each key stage that reflect the compulsory and additional units of study on the Lincolnshire locally agreed syllabus for RE here -

These are offered as a suggestion of the detail that could be covered in each compulsory and additional unit on the syllabus. They reflect the #BalancedRE approach, which focuses on a balance between believing (theology), living (human/social sciences) and thinking (philosophy). You can find out more about this approach here.

If you choose to teach a systematic study of Judaism as one of your Additional Units, you may like to use the document below to support your planning. It has been mapped in the same way as the Compulsory Units for Christianity, Hinduism and Islam and should ensure any teaching of Judaism has parity with teaching on the compulsory religions.
