'On the lead up to Holy Week, we all made Easter cards. We delivered one to every household in the village. The cards invited them a coffee morning this morning. We also made some extras to send to our International connection school in Kenya. 

On Monday, the official start of Holy Week, every child brought a flower and we used it to decorate the cross. We use this to help the children to understand what happened to Jesus on the cross…the flowers will have died when we come back after Easter…just like Jesus did.

During the day, the children were grouped into different groups and they rotated through a variety of activities Activities included, walking Jesus’ path of Palm Sunday, eating marshmallows and enjoying lunch together to represent the final super, building gardens to represent the gardens of Gethsemane, writing prayers, being immersed in an outdoor Godly Play, building tombs and planting new life. 

The tuff tray of the Garden of Gethsemane was recreated by every group with a member of the village church. It has been in school all week and will be placed at the church today for the Easter period. 

At the end of the day, we also left some flowers around the village for the community to find as a Random Act of Kindness. 

On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, we all explored the Stations of the Cross and each year group (EYFS to Yr6) recreated an image using different media including appliqué, weaving, and silk painting. We displayed these on our coffee morning on Friday. 

On Thursday we all took part in a pilgrimage where we explored Good Friday in more depth. At each station children had a moment of reflection, prayer and were given an item to remind them of the station.  The pilgrimage ended at the church where we enjoyed a service and then lunch together. At the end of the day, children took their bags home so they could explain the story to their family.
