There is an exciting opportunity to serve as a director on the new Diocesan Board of Education. The role is ideally suited to someone with a passion and commitment for promoting education in the diocese that is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England. It is important that the Board has a rich and diverse group of people to promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion in the 141 church school communities. Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education is a company limited by guarantee (registered number 08334622) and a registered charity (number 1151733.) Members of the Board are Directors of the company and Trustees of the charity, which itself is also site trustee for 66 Church of England schools. In the current climate for education and schools, we need a broad range of skills and experience to support Church of England schools and their communities.

Functions assigned to the Board of Education by the DBE Measure 2021:

a. To promote or assist in the promotion of education in the diocese that is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England.

b. To promote or assist in the promotion of religious education and religious worship in schools in the diocese.

c. To promote or assist in the promotion of church schools in the diocese .

d. To promote co-operation between itself and other persons concerned with education in the diocese.

The Board of Education comprises of the diocesan bishop, up to five persons nominated by the diocesan bishop, and 4—6 persons co-opted by the DBE.

Diocesan Synod elects at least five, and not more than 8 members.

Not all elected members need be Synod members. However they must be nominated by members of the Diocesan Synod.

Members are also asked to serve on one of the two sub-committees, which also meet at least quarterly.
